AKSEL STASNY was born and raised in Austria. He studied at the Institute of Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna and graduated at the New York Film Academy. As a director and cinematographer he works in New York City and Vienna.
His short film Coming Home and 3 Needs premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival. In 2017 his documentary Leaving the Nest was nominated for the Austrian Documentary Award (ADA) at the Ethnocineca Film Festival. It then won the Best Independent Documentary at the Austrian Film Festival.
Aksel Stasny’s work was featured in international film festivals, like the Toronto International Film Festival, Busan Film Festival, LA Pacific Filmfest, Raindance Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, New York Independent Film and won at the 2011 Canada International Film Festival.
Based in New York City and Vienna he works for clients such as Chopard, Ferrari, Louis Vuitton, Micheline, Salvatore Ferragamo, Showtime Network and W Magazine.
